In October, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, will premiere seven new and returning original series in primetime, according to Cynopsis. One is “Don’t Tell the Bride,” a reality series where cash-strapped couples are given $25,000 to create their dream wedding. Caroline Rhea narrates the series, and the bride and groom are separated for three weeks while the groom must plan the entire wedding with no help from the bride. (Premieres Oct. 15 at 10pm)
Okay, I’m all for reality TV. But as a bride, I think part of the joy of the wedding day is planning the event yourself. Contributing to it, making things, organizing and pulling off a celebration that reflects you as a couple – not just the reigning trends of the day or the most extravagant options. Anyone else with me on that? There’s a feeling of accomplishment after the months of work you and your tribe put into the wedding, and in a way, it foreshadows or hints at the real work of marriage. Am I off base here?
Well, if you don’t agree and you’d actually be interested in appearing on the show, here’s a link to audition information. *wink*
