‘Don’t use the word wedding when hunting for the right price’

Wedding
Bride & Groom: Marlon & Nancie McIntyre

Wedding Date: April 11, 2008

Location: Orlando, FL

Budget: $6,000

Best Savings: Cake & Catering—Friends made and served the food. We covered costs + tip ($500 for the cake, $1000 for food)

Best Splurge: The Reception Hall was $2,000—we spent our most there since that’s where most of the evening would be spent.

Tips: Don’t use the word “wedding” when hunting for the right price on flowers, table covers. They hear wedding and see dollar signs and will charge you for a package with a whole bunch of stuff (that you won’t need) that’s included in the price, rather than a party or large group rate.

What tips would you give to a bride-to-be?
