Would you pay $35 for a movie ticket? Some investors are banking on it. Some companies have partnered to bring a luxury cinema called Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas to 50 locations nationwide over the next five years.
The luxury theaters feature reclining armchair seats with footrests, digital projection and a lounge and bar serving cocktails and appetizers, a concierge service and valet parking. And forget overpriced popcorn and soda. These theaters push items like pricey sushi and wine (for extra $$$ of course).
The first two venues are in South Barrington, a suburb of Chicago, and the Seattle suburb of Redmond in October. Others are Fairview, Texas, near Dallas-Fort Worth, and Scottsdale, Ariz.
Investors aren’t deterred from forging ahead with their plans in a recession. “Entertainment has long been shown to be recession-proof,” the article says.
I would say that’s probably true!

Why not? I already pay $35 for a gallon of gas, right?
