Organic Produce

pearsbartlett.jpg A friend sent me a link to Orlando Organics this week. I checked it out and decided to start a weekly produce subscription. This family-owned business distributes fruits and vegetables all over the Orlando area. Most of it is locally grown; some of it is from out-of-state since it's not grown here (like potatoes). I got the medium package for $32 a week and my single co-worker is going to split the order and cost. I'll keep the blog updated on how it goes for us and how it affects our regular grocery bill.

Yes, please keep us posted on the progress! I too have considered joining a co-op - but there isn't anything local (I live in WI, everything either comes from MI or MN) so I just stick to the Farmer's Market. Plus, I don't know how my husband and I could go through that much produce - so please let us know how it goes with just cooking for 2...do you use all the food? Or does it go bad?

I regularly post on my blog about this type of thing, and my quest to live a greener life - including going organic on a budget.

How is the Orlando Organics going? I just found out about it, too. I did a price comparison with Whole Foods, and the delivery services seems to be about 21% cheaper. Thanks.
